Wilson, N.C. Puppy Mill Bust Information SitePug Rescue of North Carolina, Inc.OverviewOn January 19th, in response to complaints, eight pugs were handed over to Pug Rescue Of North Carolina, Inc. They were in such bad condition that a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Darrel Newsome of 814 Little Rock Church Road, Wilson, North Carolina. The result was that on Monday, January 22, 2007, Pug Rescue of North Carolina Inc. experienced the largest rescue of pugs in it's history. Chris Hedrick, president of Pug Rescue of North Carolina Inc., saved an additional thirty-five dogs in their donated pug rescue truck, returning home at 9:30 PM on Monday night. They unloaded and situated the dogs by 1 AM on Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon, Chris and many dedicated rescue volunteers had bathed dogs and they were ready to be vetted and go to foster homes. By Wednesday, many of the pugs had been to the vet and were in foster homes. Unfortunately, vet bills are mounting. There are some extremely ill special needs dogs that are missing eyes or who need eyes removed, dogs with cardiac issues, bad teeth, dislocated hips, upper respiratory issues, luxating platellas, dogs who were blind from PK, and several pregnant pugs in poor condition who will have puppies soon. In addition, all of the pugs will need to be spayed or neutered pending the outcome of this case. |
